Ellen Marie Gorman, of Beloit, passed away at home, unexpectedly on Feb. 4, 2024.
She was born June 30, 1949, in Chicago, to Roger and Bea (Sheehan) Gorman. In the winter of 1969, mother Bea and stepfather George “Buzzy” Lawson moved Ellen along, with her younger siblings, to Delavan to be closer to Great Aunt Ethel “Ma” Fleming and other local relatives.
Whether you worked with Ellen at Lake Lawn, square-danced at Lakeland Center, played Bingo together, or met her at a crazy family gathering, you knew she was a special person.
Daughter, sister, aunt, great aunt, cousin, neighbor and friend. She loved going out and having fun. Other favorites include the Packers, jukeboxes, pull-tabs, celebrities, Hershey Kisses, SWAM’s Christmas cookies, donuts and coffee, and a few dogs.
She’s probably quite busy in heaven – telling on all of us, laughing at Buzzy, brother John “Juan” Gorman, Uncles (Beaver, Frank, and Ed), and dancing to her favorite music (Barry, Beatles, and Beach Boys). She’s also probably complaining to the entity in charge, asking why the Packers were not in the Super Bowl. (Don’t bet against them next year.)
Sisters Davia (Rick) Dykstra, Debbie (David) Marsicano, Jami (TJ) Harrington, and Jori (Jeff) Hume ask that you honor Ellen’s memory by taking someone out for a meal, generously tipping your service staff, and donating to your favorite Delavan non-profit – especially one that brings people together (ex. Aram Public Library, Historical Society, Phoenix Bandshell, Never Say Never Playground).
