Linda M. Longman, 73, of Avalon, passed away Feb. 23, 2024, at Oak Park Place.
She was born in Harvard, Illinois, on Feb. 15, 1951, the daughter of Robert E. and Mary K. (Hennessy) Killoy.
After graduating from Delavan-Darien High School, class of 1969, Linda married Roger K. Longman on Oct. 13, 1973, in Fontana, and they were blessed with a son, Shaun. Linda worked as a beautician at Headquarters in Fontana for nine years and Linda’s Clip Joint in Avalon for 43 years.
From a young age, Linda loved animals – dogs, cats and especially horses. Her daughter in-law made her dreams come true when she was able to get her a horse named Hawley. Hawley was truly loved by Linda and all of Avalon. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing softball and going line dancing. She also enjoyed sewing, crafting, singing karaoke and playing euchre in her spare time.
Linda is survived by her husband, Roger; her son, Shaun (Stephanie) Longman; grandchildren, Tru, A.J. and Mikyah Longman; siblings, Daniel (Colleen) Killoy and Loraine (Mr. Jan Ratajczak) Killoy and many extended family members and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert (Bob) and Mary Killoy; in-laws, Leo (Kelly) and Marion Longman; sister and brother in-law, Donny and Sandy Waller.
The family would like to thank: Alden Meadow Park staff, Mercy Health System staff, Oak Park Place staff, and Mercy Hospice staff for all the great care that she received.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory; with visitation from 10 a.m. until time of service. Committal will immediately follow the service to the Emerald Grove Cemetery.
