Carol Ann Deschner, 83, of Delavan, passed away Feb. 11, 2024, at Agrace Center for Hospice and Palliative Care in Janesville.
Carol was born on Oct. 8, 1940, in Jefferson Park, Illinois, to Ladislav and Virginia (Sweeney) Zitko. When she was 15, Carol and her family moved to Delavan, where she met William Deschner. Carol graduated from Delavan High School in 1958 and she and William were married in 1959.
Carol worked at Brown’s Grocery Store and Sentry Foods in Delavan until she began her career as a cook at Millie’s Pancake Haus in 1964. At Millie’s, Carol worked with and had a positive impact on hundreds of employees over the span of nearly 48 years.
Always up for a trip, a card game, bingo or other fun, Carol was a kind, loving woman and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed holidays and celebrations of any nature. But above all, she loved spending time with her friends and family.
Carol is survived by her husband of 64 years, William; daughter, Julie (James) Lawson of Pooler, Georgia; son, Brad (Sara) Deschner of Delavan; granddaughter, Taylon Sharer of Austin, Texas; step-grandson, Micah Lawson of Elm City, North Carolina; grandson, Kyle (fiancée, Signe) Deschner of Delavan. She is also survived by her sister, Diane (Wayne) Brown of Viola; and many nieces and nephews.
Carol was pre-deceased by her brother, John Zitko.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 16, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 416 W. Geneva Street, Delavan, with the Rev. Jonah Burakowski officiating. Burial will take place at Spring Grove Cemetery in Delavan.
