RUTH MANTHEY

Ruth Manthey, 81, of East Troy, died peacefully March 19, 2023. She was born March 28, 1941, in West Allis, to Mathias and Magdalena (Wagner) Renner.

      Ruth was in third grade when her family moved to a farm in Greenfield. While there they would only buy flour, coffe, and sugar but produced the rest of their food at the farm.

      Ruth’s favorite chore was husking corn during the winter. She graduated Greendale High School in 1959.

      She married Ronald Manthey on Oct. 21, 1961, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in St. Francis, and lived in Milwaukee before moving to East Troy in 1963.

      She was a housewife and a member of the Lake Beulah Homemakers. She also worked part time as a seamstress at both Snitz Manufacturing and Body Flight in East Troy, helped with classified ads for the Mukwonago Chief and volunteered with the Kiwanis Manor Nursing Home.

      Ruth was a lifelong NASCAR fan and loved to read books. She was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church.

      Ruth is survived by her children, Michael (Barbara) Manthey of East Troy, Doris Manthey of Whitewater, Francis Manthey of Whitewater; three grandchildren, two great-grandsons; and many other relatives and friends.

      She was preceded in death by her husband, daughters, Kathryn and Georgia; parents; and her brothers, Mathias and John.

      Mass of Christian burial was March 28 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, East Troy.

      The family wishes to thank the staff of East Troy Manor and Brighton Hospice for their excellent care and attention to Ruth.

      In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Peters Church are suggested.
