PHILIP VAN DE BOGERT

      Philip Ned Van De Bogert, 95, passed away Nov. 1, 2022, in his sleep.

Philip was born to Matt and Edith (Boutelle) Van De Bogert.

He is preceded in death by his parents, four siblings, Allan, Kenneth, Martha, Laurence; and his wife of 65 years, Donna (Bell). He is survived by daughters, Diane (Patrick) Wood and Loreen Mueller; five grandchildren, Ryan, Karl, Elizabeth, Emily, and Michael; three great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and a number of nieces and nephews.

Philip served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was stationed in Germany as a military policeman guarding railway yards at the end of the war. After being honorably discharged, Philip attended Central Teachers College (now UW-Stevens Point) and graduated in 1953 with a Bachelor of Science degree in natural resources.

While in college he met his future wife, Donna Bell. They were married in 1949 and for the next 65 years lived in Delavan. He went into the family building trades business becoming journeyman lather. Philip’s hobby’s included hiking, camping, gardening, fishing, and traveling. He was an avid reader, especially anything about aircraft and space. He enjoyed spending time with his family and taught his grandchildren to love nature and fish.

A private funeral is planned with a memorial service to be held next spring.

The family would like to thank his Aurora-At-Home hospice team for their compassionate care as well as the wonderful nursing staff at Aurora Zilber Family Hospice in Wauwatosa. Monroe Funeral Home in Delavan is assisting the family.
