Dorothy E. Rose, 96, of East Troy, went home to be with her husband May 10, 2022.
She was born to William and Alwine (nee Raatz) Dettmering in Pine River, but made her home in East Troy where she graduated from high school and married the love of her life, Lester B. Rose, in 1949 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
Dorothy worked side by side with Lester growing East Troy Marine into a longtime community business.
She loved to create poems for family occasions. She enjoyed acting in plays, dancing, decorating birthday cakes, hosting family gatherings, and making church a central part of her life.
Survivors include her children, Renae (David) Kehl of Monticello, Mn. Richard (Kathy) Rose of East Troy, Wi. and Constance (Mark) Marino of Fontana, Wi; grandchildren, Amy (Damon) Valek, Nicholas (Amber) Kehl, Peter (Mano) Rose, and Bryan Rose; great-grandchildren, Sydney and Brennyn Valek. Dorothy is also survived by two of her nine siblings William (Marge) Dettmering and Berniece McGuire, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and siblings.
“Mom was the picture of class and poise from the top of her head all the way down to her toes. We will forever love her, miss her, and be grateful for the priceless time we spent with her,” her family said.
Services were held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Legacy Funeral Services, East Troy, had the honor of serving the family.
