Dennis Clark Redler, 65, of Elkhorn, passed away peacefully at his home in the early morning hours of Sept. 17, 2021.
Dennis was born Jan. 7, 1956, in Rockford, Illinois, to the late Camille and Betty (Brown) Redler. While attending school in Rockford, Dennis was active in the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps. It was during that time he would meet Sharon Neff who he would marry and raise a family with.
After high school, Dennis worked at his father-in-law’s small bus company where he learned mechanical skills that would carry him through life. Dennis landed a job with VanGalder Bus Company and moved his family to Janesville and eventually he was employed with Jones Bus Company of Elkhorn from which he retired.
Dennis and Sharon would divorce in 2000, but remained friends. In 2004, he would come to meet Shelley Bowers and would spend the rest of his life with her. Together they were huge fans of NASCAR, Wisconsin Badgers, Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers. Dennis could often be found in his favorite recliner cheering on his beloved Wisconsin sports teams. During time spent away from his recliner he was also an avid golfer.
He is survived by his longtime love, Shelley Bowers; his daughter, Heidi (Beau) Sanden of Avalon; his son, Andrew (Jane) Redler of Janesville; seven grandchildren, Jake, Dwayne, Andrew Jr., Trenton, Brooklynn, Ozlynn and Kaydence; two great-grandchildren, Evelynn and Landon; one brother, John (Shari) Redler of El Mirage, Ariz., and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Jim Redler.
Memorial service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 25, at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home 730 N. Wisconsin St., Elkhorn. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service.
