Norman James Saffran, 92, passed away peacefully at home on Feb. 8, 2021. He was born on June 27, 1928, in Mountain, to the late Herman and Margaret Saffran.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He married the late Betty Jane Strehlow on March 31, 1951.
Norman worked at Trent Tube for 44 years, retiring in 1991. He was a long-time member of St. James United Methodist Church, East Troy.
He loved hunting, fishing, traveling, and spending time at his place up north with his wife, children, grandchildren, and extended family and friends.
Survivors include his children, Kenneth, Dawn (Richard) Zur, Terry (Tom Barham) and Sandra Hansen, grandchildren, Angela (Joey) Keeran, Richard (Amanda) Zur, Kenneth Hansen, Aaron Hansen, Kristie Hansen, and Sara (Steve) Shearier; great-grandsons, Richard (Zac) Zur, Mason Zur and Isaak Hansen; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and JoAnn Saffran; brothers and sisters-in-law Fern Cramer, Pete Strehlow, Audrey Strehlow, Doris Saffran, and Fay and Tom Stache. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends..
He was further preceded in death by his brothers, Robert and Lloyd; and son-in-law ,Bruce Hansen.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Terry, who was their dad’s constant care giver and companion for many years – especially after their mom passed away. And, to Ken Hansen who was always there to help him and spend time with him. The family would also like to thank Dr. Gary Shepherdson and Lonnie for the wonderful care and comfort shown to Norman for many years. And to Grace Hospice, especially Jamie. Her care and compassion for their dad and the family was “like an angel leading us through a difficult time.”
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, private services are planned.
