Robert Philip “Bob” Militello, 62, of Delavan, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family the morning of Sunday, Jan. 24, 2021.
Bob was born to the late Philip and Joan (Schweiger) on June 26, 1958 in Melrose Park, Illinois. He graduated high school at Proviso East in 1976 and then went on to attend the Triton College where he majored in business.
He began coming to the Delavan Lake area with his parents around 1976, and began working as a store manager in the early 80s. With his father, Bob and Philip built, ran and operated the Maxi Shell station in the Delavan inlet.
Bob went back to school for a degree in exercise and health. He opened his business, OPT (Optimum Personal Training) For Fitness and Healthy Inspirations, in Delavan, where Bob personally trained and helped people with diet and lifestyle changes. More recently Bob has been employed with Larson Home Services out of Madison.
He helped establish the Delavan Red Devils (now the Comets) youth football program in 1995 with his dear friend, Rocky, and a few others. This program was very near and dear to Bob’s heart and he was the longest active original starting member.
Bob was home on hospice care where he was visited by dear friends and relatives. He enjoyed his family and friends, watching the birds, coaching football and a new passion for flowers.
He is survived by his loving wife Martha (Brown) Militello of Delavan Lake, daughter, Stephanie, of Delavan Lake, son, Eric and Andrea of Sheboygan, and his dear friend Barbara Militello. He was grandpa to five grandchildren, Desiree, Sebastian, Armon, Isabella and Camilla, whom he has so much pride in being grandpa to. Also surviving him are lots of relatives and many great friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held later this year. In lieu of flowers please make memorials in Bob’s name to the: Delavan Youth football Program, P.O. Box 305, Delavan, WI 53115.
