William H. Schomburg, 83, of Elkhorn, died Dec. 22, 2020, at his home.
He was born on March 20, 1937, in Appleton, to the late Vernon and Sarah (Chart) Schomburg. Bill graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville in 1964 with a Bachelors degree in engineering. He served in the United States Navy from Jan. 17, 1955 to Jan. 16, 1958. Bill was united in marriage to Mary Boesch on June 20, 1956, in Hilbert. He worked for 36 years as an engineer in the Elkhorn area for Jensen-Johnson, Farris-Hansen & Associates and the City of Elkhorn, retiring in 2000.
Bill was an active member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Elkhorn, serving as a trustee. He loved to be outdoors and traveling. Mary and Bill enjoyed photography and seeking out waterfalls during their travels. Bill was a member of American Legion Post 45 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6375 both of Elkhorn. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary; four children, Karl Schomburg of West Allis, Lisa (Dan) Reshkus of Delavan, Lori (Bill Caldwell) Jarzynski of Plano, Texas, and Kristy (Scott) Kleist of Big Bend; seven grandchildren, Stephanie and Jacob Stey, Gavin, Anja, Garrick and Caleb Reshkus, and Jake Jarzynski; six great-grandchildren, Alexis Thomazin, Isabella Gast, McKenna Reshkus, Burkleigh Gast, Liam Reshkus and Vittoria Reshkus, and one brother, Gary Schomburg, of Lakewood.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his aunt and uncle, Beatrice and Mac McBrayer.
Services were held Dec. 27 at Haase-Lockwood and Associates Funeral Homes and Crematory, 730 N. Wisconsin St. Elkhorn, with the Rev. Preston Heuer and Pastor Wayne Meier officiating.
