Mary Cathleen Faber (nee Carpenter), 75, of Delavan passed away on Nov. 25, 2020, due to complications from Covid-19.
She was born April 21, 1945, in Oakland, Calif., to William and M. Loraine (Korback) Carpenter. She grew up in Evanston, Ill., married, and had her children. In 1970, Mary and her family moved to Wisconsin Dells where they owned and operated Dells Mound Lake Resort. The resort was sold in 1988 and the family moved to Madison. From there, Mary moved back to Evanston and worked for the City of Evanston until her retirement.
Mary was very proud of her family and is survived by her son, Bill (Andrea) Faber; her daughter, Barb Danner; and her grandchildren, Jenna (Cody) Averitt, Brett Danner, Chelsea Danner, Jonathan Faber, and Isabella Faber. She is also survived by her three brothers, Bill (Mary) Carpenter, Mike (Mary) Carpenter, Charlie (Laurie) Carpenter; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Mom taught us the importance of a strong work ethic, enjoyed going to the river with her grandkids, liked going to rummage sales, and she made the best chocolate chip cookies.
Betzer Funeral Home in Delavan will be assisting the family in carrying out Mary’s wish to be cremated.
The Spring Green area and the Wisconsin River are special places to our family. St. John’s Catholic Church in Spring Green will assist the family with burial and a gravesite service to be held on Saturday, April 24, 2021.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to go toward an education fund for Mary’s grandchildren. Donations can be sent to: Barbara Danner P.O. Box 594, Pewaukee, WI, 53072.
