WERNER SEMLING

      Werner N. Semling “Junior” 86, of Elkhorn died Friday, May 29, 2020 at his home.

He was born Sept. 18, 1933 in Fountain City, to the late Della (Drazkowski) and Werner G. Semling, Sr.

Junior served in the U.S. Army as a Paratrooper with the 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions from 1953 to 1956. On May 11, 1957 he was united in marriage to Virginia Lee Bowers at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fountain City.

He drove truck for over 30 years with Tucker Freight Company of Milwaukee, retiring in 1987. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Elkhorn, American Legion and Teamsters Union Local 200. He enjoyed gardening and working outdoors and for over 40 years he helped the grounds crew at the Walworth County Fair in Elkhorn.

Junior was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be deeply missed by his wife of 63 years, Virginia; his eight children, Edward, Whitehall; Andrew, Arcadia; Charles (Mary), Galesville; Randal (Denice), Elkhorn; Douglas (David Patrick), Springfield, MO; Bruce, Elkhorn; Michele (Duane) Pestor, Delavan; Jason, Elkhorn; along with seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He is further survived by his five siblings: James (Bernice), Fountain City; Duella Murphy, Fountain City; Bonnie (Gary) Barnak, Woodbury, MN; Lindon (Charlene), Winona; and Roxanne (Douglas) Borkowski, Winona, and sister-in-law Lori Semling, Arcadia.

Junior was preceded in death by a son, John; sister, Gladys Pampuch; brothers, Marcel, Gerald and Stephen; and brothers-in-law, Bob Murphy and Dick Pampuch.

Funeral services were held at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home of Elkhorn and at Wozney-Killian Funeral Home of Arcadia. Burial with military honors was at Pipers Valley Cemetery.
