William Ensign Strever, 83, of Rockford, Ill., passed away May 3, 2020, in his home.
He was born Sept. 23, 1936, in Albuquerque, N.M., the son of Merwin and Mary Strever. He married Carol Lorenz May 19, 1965. William attended college at the University of Missouri finishing his pre-veterinarian degree at which time he was drafted and served in the United States Army in South Korea. He specialized in training guard dogs. Following his service, William started his career raising and showing Arabian Horses. He then went to work for Palumbo Construction in Chicago for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; four daughters, Cassandra Putnam, Stephanie (Kenneth) Kenny, Amanda (David) DeGrave and Holly (Ryan) Rogers; grandchildren, Kelsey (Troy) McAuliffe, Amanda Kenny (Thomas Paniconi), Riley Kenny (Alyssa Aquilino), Cole Hanson and Briella Rogers; great grandchildren, Lila and Blakely; sisters, Sue Bennet, Sara Green, Elizabeth Deaton and Mary Lou Daniels.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, John; and sisters, JoAnn Krelle and Harriet Strever.
Cremation rites accorded. A service will be held at a later date.
