Donna Schurek, 86, of East Troy passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 18, 2020. She was born on Sept. 21, 1933 in North Judson, Indiana, to the late Helen and John Woytinek.
She married her beloved husband, Donald, of more than 59 years at St. Cyril and Methodius Church in North Judson, Indiana, on New Years Eve 1960.
Soon after they were married, they relocated to the East Troy area where they worked side by side to create a successful farming operation, which remains today.
Don and Donna were blessed with four children, 11 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren through the years.
Donna loved long walks, gator rides overlooking the farm and watching her hummingbirds grow plump. She made the best pickles in Walworth County from her plentiful garden, and was a secretive piano player. Donna’s kitchen was always full of sweet treats for the grandkids and she hand delivered these on family birthdays.
She could be seen enjoying summer breezes on her yard swing and always enjoyed spending time with her family who will miss her dearly.
Donna served her community through volunteer work with meals on wheels, fish frys, counting church funds and clothing drives.
She is survived by her husband; children, David (Tracy) Scurek, Matthew (Julie) Scurek, Peter (Josi) Scurek, Mary (John) Brehm; grandchildren, Carrie (Thomas) Holler, Paul (Geneva) Scurek, Bethany (Jeff) Judd, Olivia Scurek (Jacob), Thomas Scurek, Donald Scurek, Emma Scurek, Sebastian Scurek, Johnathon Brehm, Jered Brehm and Justin Brehm; great-grandchildren, Rubie Holler, Lilie Holler, Harley Scurek, Georgia Scurek, Emerson Judd, Barrett Judd and Baker Judd; brother, Michael Woytinek, and other relatives and friends.
Donna was further preceded in death by younger brother, Johnny Woytinek.
A private service is being held with a public celebration of Donna’s life being scheduled for a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the family who will donate to Breast Cancer and Alzheimer/Dementia organizations in Donna’s name.
