GORDON F. WENDT

Gordon F. Wendt, 86, was called home by his Lord and Savior on March 3, 2020.

He was the loving husband of Maureen (Rebne) Wendt, his devoted wife of 67 years. They were married on Nov. 29, 1952.

Gordie, with his kind, bright, blue eyes, was a true family man and devoted friend. His passion in life was running the Wendt Family Farm, which he lived on his entire life. He was the fifth generation of the farm after it started in 1869 and it still runs today into the seventh generation with the eighth in training.

He was an innovator in farm technology, always improving on equipment. He relied on his instincts to be successful when trying new things. He enjoyed helping neighbors whether they were in need or not.

Even more than the farm he loved his family. He spent 70 of his years with the love of his life. He lit up when everyone got together for family celebrations, especially on the farm. He loved reading and pulling pranks on the grandkids and great grandkids.

Some of the things he enjoyed doing once he “retired” was collecting farm toys, antique tractors, and going to antique tractor and farm shows. He kept up with friends by checking in on the phone. He enjoyed mowing the family farm. He would drive his gator to the fields and watch the progress of the fall harvest. His spirit will remain forever over his friends and generations to come.

Survivors include his wife; Peter D. (Debbie) Wendt, Lance Wendt and Ardell Ahorner; grandchildren, Jennifer (Adam) Bower, Hank Wendt, Peter C. (Cherissa) Wendt, Becky (Brian) Woolley, Sammi Clark (Cesar), Lizzy Schmuki, JoAnna (Bill) Burki; great-grandchildren, Jack and Luke Bower, Daniel Wendt, Dylan, Gavin and Owenn (Odie) Wendt, Aidan, Noah and Evelyn Woolley, Ayden, Genevieve, Cesar Jr., Lydia and Elias, Miranda, Caleb, Mason, Anakin and Izak Domack, and Billy Burki; siblings, Fern Vanbeek, June Kropf and Bruce (Mary) Wendt and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 7, at the Schmidt and Bartelt Funeral Home, 930 Main St., Mukwonago. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery, East Troy. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Gordon’s memory.
