Florence E. Trepel, 99, of Elkhorn, passed away peacefully on Jan. 31, 2020. She was born in Lincoln, Illinois, to John and Anna Gockel.
Florence married the love of her life, Herman, in October 1945. Together, they ran the family farm and raised three children.
Florence was a devoted Christian and attended Peace Lutheran Church in New Berlin. She loved music and supporting her husband’s and son’s passion for showing horses.
Florence will be deeply missed by her children, Barbara (Dave) Swarthout, Don and Terry (Kelly); grandchildren, Michele Melsha, David D. (Jessica) Swarthout, and Amanda (George) Schroeder; great-grandchildren, Andrew Trepel Melsha, Riley Swarthout, Cole Schroeder and Brendan Swarthout; sister, Dorothy Jacobs, as well as many other extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, at Peace Lutheran Church, 17651 W. Small Road, New Berlin. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
