Frances Margaret Jungen Vershowske, 100, passed to eternal life May 22, 2019. She was born April 2, 1919, to Mathias and Emma Jungen in New Berlin.
She is survived by her son, James (Barbara); daughter, Jeanne (Albert) Kostopoulos; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; parents; granddaughter, Donna Vershowske; and her sisters, Jeannette Skendzel, Emma Schere and Marcella Heinz.
Frances was a member of Holy Apostles Church in New Berlin, St Peter the Apostle Church in East Troy and for the last 74 years, St. James Catholic Church in Mukwonago. She was a member of Christian Women’s Society and became a charter member of the Secular Franciscans of St. James in 1953; now transferred to Portciuncula Fraternity in Franklin.
She recently received an award for 60 years of service to American Legion Auxiliary Post 375 of Mukwonago.
She brought laughter to the East Troy and Mukwonago senior clubs for 20 years as the storyteller.
She was an income tax preparer and bookkeeper for 50 years. She loved spending time with family, gardening, friendships and playing sheepshead.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at noon Wednesday, May 29, at James Catholic Church, 830 County Highway NN East, Mukwonago. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon at the church.
Private burial will be in Woods National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. James Catholic Church are suggested.
Schmidt and Bartelt Funeral and Cremation Services, Mukwonago, is assisting the family.
