Richard Alan Youmans, Sr., 76, of Lake Park, Ga., died on April 23, 2019, at his residence following a brief illness.
He was born on Jan. 8, 1943, in Elkhorn, to the late Robert and Doris May Gates Youmans. Mr. Youmans was a retired Master Sergeant with the United States Air Force and served during Vietnam. Mr. Youmans was involved in several community and civic organizations including the American Legion, and the Disabled American Veterans and served as the Chief Engineer with the Twin Lakes Volunteer Fire Department for 10 years. He was a member of the Thai Temple in Navarre, Fla.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Urai Youmans of Lake Park, Ga.; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Richard Jr., and Christie Youmans of Lake Park, Ga., Ronald Youmans of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., and Robert Anthony Youmans of Loyal; a daughter and son-in-law, Tonya and Kevin Mahoney of Billerica, Mass.; his grandchildren, Christopher, Alyssa, Matthew, William, Maddox, Dustin, Richard, Urai, Emily, Robert Jr., Angelisa and her fiancé Mark Proctor, Draven, Megan, and Billy; great-grandchildren, Savannah and Richard Alan; his sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and John Stephenson of Janesville. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Quinta and Lattie; and a brother, William Youmans.
A memorial service for Richard Alan Youmans, Sr., will be held on April 26, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home 2215 N. Patterson Street, Valdosta, Ga. 31602. The family will receive friends on Friday from noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. The inurnment will take place at a later date and time at Tallahassee National Cemetery.
