Lawrence “Bub” Hensel, 84, lifetime resident of East Troy, went to be with the Lord on Nov. 20, 2017, surrounded by his family. He was born on May 9, 1933, to the late Floyd and Eda (Wiener) Hensel.
He met his loving wife, Dottie, in East Troy. They were married for 61 years.
Bub, a local farmer and mechanic, had many interests and talents – community band member, livestock hauler, blacksmith, woodworking, pilot, hunter, Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, and usher/eucharistic minister.
He retired from Walworth County Highway Department.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy (Elfering) Hensel; children, Katherine (Allen) Kittelson, John (Kathy), Betty (Andrew) Saffioti, Carl (Sherry); 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and his sister, Rosemary (Ronald) Bornshlegel.
He was further preceded in death by his brother, Donald; sister, Flossie Bolton’ and grandson, Joe.
Memorial Mass will be at noon on Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017 at Saint Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 975 Beulah Ave., East Troy. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name will be distributed to charities that were important to him.
