Frances J. Blakesley, 96, of Elkhorn, passed away April 4, 2017, at Kindred Hearts in Elkhorn.
She was born June 1, 1920, in Iowa, to the late Alfred and Clara (Cutsinger) Melson. Frances married Bert Blakesley on Sept. 19, 1942 in Iowa City, Iowa. Bert preceded her in death on Oct. 31, 2012. Frances worked as a Registered Nurse at Lakeland Hospital. She enjoyed traveling, knitting, clogging, playing bridge and pinochle. She especially loved spending time with her family.
Frances is survived by her six children, Jane (Terry) Budworth, Judy (John) Duffiney, Lois (Mel) Yoshikami, Bob (Linda) Blakesley, Weston Blakesley and Jim Blakesley; eight grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bert and six siblings.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Haase-Lockwood and Associates Funeral Home, 730 N Wisconsin St., Elkhorn, with the Rev. Bill McBride officiating. Visitation will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Lakeland Animal Shelter, PO Box 100 Elkhorn, WI 53121.
