MARILYN K. ALBERTS

      Marilyn K. Alberts, 73, of Delavan, died Dec. 27, 2016, at Post Acute Specialty Hospital in Milwaukee.

She was born in Baraboo, May 12, 1943, to Richard and Florence (Jahn) Romelfanger. She was baptized June 1, 1943, and confirmed April 14, 1957. She graduated from UW – LaCrosse in 1965. She was united in marriage to William Alberts May 21, 1966, in Baraboo at St. John’s Lutheran Church.

She was a dedicated teacher for many years. She taught in LaCrosse, Carpentersville, Ill. and Clinton, before settling in Delavan at Wileman School. She retired after 25 years of teaching in Delavan. After retiring she was able to continue educating children at Jacobson’s Apple Barn. She was active at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Delavan. She also enjoyed being an election poll worker.

She was a loving and proud mother and grandmother. She enjoyed every trip to Ripon and other cities in the Midwest following her sons’ basketball teams. She was a loyal coach’s wife. She also took advantage of every opportunity possible to watch her grandkids play volleyball, basketball, dance, soccer and tennis.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, William; two sons, Brad (Kate) Alberts, of Southlake, Texas, and Brent (Cari) Alberts, of Fontana; and three grandchildren, Annabelle, Marco, and Grace. Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Jan. 2, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 416 W. Geneva Street in Delavan with the Rev. Robert P. Rickman officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday at the church.

Memorials can be directed to the American Cancer Society or Our Redeemer Lutheran Church with School. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Dr. Ruggeri and the staff at the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic.

Monroe Funeral Home in Delavan is assisting the family.

    It is with heavy hearts we send our condolences. Marilyn was such a “special” mom, woman, teacher, friend, and, of course, one could see, wife. Truly anyone who knew her, was blessed.
