Richard A. Lewis, 87, of Lyons, died Nov. 16, 2016, at Lakeland Health Care Center Elkhorn. He was born Nov. 1, 1929, in Beaver Dam, to the late E.A. “Jack” and Florence (Miller) Lewis.
He served in the U.S. Marines with a tour of duty in Korea. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin Whitewater with a Bachelors of Education. He taught middle school science at Palmyra and East Troy school districts for more than 30 years, retiring in 1988.
He was united in marriage to the late Jeanne M. Hunsader for more than 30 years. He then married Margaret “Peggy” J. Brewer on June 26, 1982, in Elkhorn, she died Dec. 23, 2012.
Richard was a member of the Palmyra American Legion Thomas-Holcomb Post 304. He was an avid fisherman participating in many fishing tournaments. He enjoyed crafting, especially ceramics and he loved to collect and watch old movies.
Survivors include his children. Randy, Linda Alexander, both of Delavan, Janet (Andy) Osowski, Germantown, Michael, Appleton, Ronald (Cindy), North Prairie, and Sue (Jerry) Olkives, Silver Lake; step-children, Jack (Susan) Wallace, East Dundee, Ill., Sherry Wallace, Delavan, Debbie (Todd) McConnell, Tylerville, Ky., Randy (Amy) Wallace, Racine, Greg (Kim) Wallace of Peoria, Ariz., and Becky (Mark) Busch, Lyons; grandchildren, Morgan and Craig Lewis, Christy Alexander, April (Dan) Meade, Jordan and Michael Osowski, Samantha, Chelsey and Meghan Lewis; great-grandchildren, Drayden, Jaelyn, Jaxson and Logan; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be at noon on Monday, Nov. 21, at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home and Crematory, 730 N. Wisconsin St., Elkhorn, with the Rev. Oriol Regales officiating. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Springfield-Union Cemetery in Springfield.
