Robert D. Garvens, 93, died Sept. 16, 2016. He was born May 20, 1923, to the late Enos and Mabel Garvens, in Brookfield.
He attended and was a graduate of Waukesha High School.
He married his late wife Lorraine “Babe” on March 24, 1951, in Hartland. They were longtime East Troy residents. He was the custodian of East Troy schools of 27 years and retired in 1988.
He was a member of St. James United Methodist Church, East Troy, a lay delegate for the church conference and a chairman of the Auction Committee. After retirement He volunteered at the East Troy food pantry.
Survivors include his daughter Becky (Dennis) Johnson, Genoa City; grandchildren, Crystal (Kenny) McClennahan, Sara (Brandon) Cusack, Andy and Mike; great-grandchildren, Zoya, Mollie, Austin and Savannah; and other relatives and many friends.
He was further preceded in death by his son, Allen; a great grandson; a sister and four brothers.
A memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept 23, at St. James United Methodist Church, 2945 Main St., East Troy. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Inurnment Oakridge Cemetery will follow.
