Richard Comstock Leighton, 87, of Williams Bay, died Aug. 29, 2016.
HE was born in Sheboygan Falls and attended Sheboygan Falls High School and the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War and was based at the Air Force station in Antigo.
He finished his bachelor’s degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he met Marie Ann Norrman. They were married July 31, 1954 and moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where Richard worked for Parke Davis and Co.
He was active in the Harmony Hawks Chorus and sang with the Vigortones quartet. In 1987, Richard and Marie moved to Williams Bay. He continued to be active in barbershop and joined the Country Gentlemen chorus. He participated in Barbershop for almost 60 years. He also enjoyed running and ran in numerous races including the Chicago Marathon twice. He was an avid golfer and golfed until he was 85.
His wife, Marie, preceded him in death in 2011. He is survived by his sisters, Janet, Michelle and Connie, his children Kathy (Chuck) Van Hoeck, Leah Ann (Jeffrey) Hudson, Jeffrey Leighton and Christopher Leighton; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
His favorite charity was The Salvation Army. A memorial gathering, service and reception were Saturday with the Rev. Thomas Dowling officiating.
Betzer Funeral Home of Delavan assisted the family.
