Rita L. Zei, 91, of Libertyville, Illinois, died Aug. 15, 2016. She was born Oct. 2, 1924, in Chicago.
She attended Immaculata High School and graduated from DePaul University, both in Chicago.
She married the late Richard Zei.
Her spirit is carried on by her 12 children, 35 grandchildren, and 40 great-grandchildren.
She is the mother of Mike (Eileen) Zei and Marge (Jeff) Fornear, and has an extended family of friends and relations from all walks of life.
Her ties to East Troy area began in childhood while attending local Girl Scout camps, including Camp Alice Chester on Booth Lake. While at Camp Alice Chester during the summers of 1941 to 1943 she worked as waterfront director. It was the beginning of her love of the outdoors experiences she passed on to all of her children.
She continued to come to visit East Troy for the rest of her life.
