Adeline R. “Artie” Schulz, 84, of East Troy, died Aug. 1, 2016, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital. She was born Aug. 26, 1931, in Royal Township, Lincoln County, Minn., to the late Hubert and Bertha (Goodman) Tholen.
She spent her early life in Marshall, Minn., where she graduated from Marshall High School, class of 1949. She has been a resident of East Troy for the past 44 years. She served in the National Guard Reserves and the Women’s Army Corp.
Artie worked as a paralegal for Quarles and Brady Law Firm for many years.
She loved reading, playing cards, crocheting, gardening, crossword puzzles and casino gaming. She was an amateur water and downhill skier and a great bowler. She was a champion scrabble player and never stopped learning.
Survivors include her children, Ann (Jeff) Langer, Laura Novak, Will Schulz and Thomas (Michelle) Schulz; grandchildren, Tim Schulz, Matt (Vicky) Novak, Michelle (Kirk) Novak, Cassie (Tucker) Goeden, Nathan Karlowski, and one on the way; great-grandchildren, Braxton Goeden, Lilliana Anderson and one on the way; and brother, Lawrence (Adeline) Tholen.
She was further preceded in death by siblings, Andrew (Marie) Tholen, Regina (Edward) Sorenson, Mary (Omar) Meulebroeck, and infant granddaughter, Madelyn Jade Novak.
The family would like to thank Dr. Burns and the staff at Waukesha Memorial Hospital, and many current and former staff at Brolen Park and the friends and colleagues at Quarles and Brady.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. on Sept. 4, at Rehkamp and Hovarth Funeral Home, 411 W. Lyons St., Marshall, Minn. Inurnment will be Sept. 5 at Calvary Cemetery in Marshall.
