Lucille J. Pett, 99, of Whitewater, died peacefully July 11, 2016, at Fairhaven, where she lived since 1994.
She was born Sept. 25, 1916, in Conde, S.D., the daughter of Harold and Amy (Amsden) Somers. With her family, she moved to Andover, S.D., in 1927, where she completed elementary school. Following graduation from Andover High School, she attended business school in Aberdeen, S.D.
Lucille moved to Milwaukee in 1941, where she had taken a job as a secretary with the Milwaukee Deaconess Home. On Jan. 1, 1944, she married Lloyd B. Pett in Andover, S.D.
The Petts made their home in the Little Prairie area where they had purchased a dairy farm. They retired from the farm in 1974 and moved to the Village of Palmyra. Lloyd died in 1984. Lucille was a former member of the Rob Morris Chapter 10 A.E.S., Palmyra Senior Citizens, Electra Shrine #16 and the Palmyra United Methodist Women.
She is survived by her nephews, Jon (Jill) and Ross (Cristy) Flemmer, of South Dakota; niece, Candace (Daniel) Kauffman, of Minnesota; four great-nephews; and two great-nieces.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Amy Flemmer; and brothers, Eugene and Richard.
Visitation will be Saturday at Haase Lockwood and Associates Funeral Home 320 W. Main St. Palmyra, from 9 until the 9:45 a.m. procession to Little Prairie Cemetery for a committal service. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at Fairhaven Corp. (in the Chapel) 435 W. Starin Rd. Whitewater.
