Richard L. Traxler, 81, of Janesville, died June 20, 2016, at Hope Hospice House in Fort Meyers, Fla. He was born in Whitewater, Aug. 16, 1934, to the late Marion “Dutch” and Regina (Meske) Traxler.
He was baptized and confirmed at the First English Lutheran Church, Whitewater. He graduated from Whitewater High School in 1953 and worked for Thomas Industries, Fort Atkinson, until he was drafted and served in the U.S. Army. After honorably serving his country, Richard worked for 43 years at GMAD.
Richard enjoyed spending his summers at his cottage on Lake Koshkonong, floating on his pontoon or riding his jet skis, and in the winter months, spending time at his home in Fort Meyers. He always looked forward to having a good time with his family and friends playing euchre, shaking dice, and cheering on the Packers, along with relaxing with a perfect Brandy Manhattan in a tub glass. He was a very generous, kind, fun loving, outgoing and understanding gentleman, who had a hearty and contagious laugh, that will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his sister, Shirley Traxler, Janesville; aunt and uncle, Dr. Ronald and Bonnie Grow, Granger, Ind.; along with many cousins, friends, and neighbors.
He was further preceeded in death by his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and several cousins.
Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m., Friday, July 15, at Faith Lutheran Church with the Rev. Jeff Tomberlin officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery, Whitewater. Full Military Rites will be provided by VFW Kienow Hilt Post 1621.
