Armand Brastad was born Oct. 1, 1928, in Chicago, to Tobias and Ingeborg (Bolstad) Brastad. He peacefully passed away June 28, 2016, at his home in Williams Bay with his wife, Anne and his daughter, Kirsten at his side.
Armand was a charter member of Norsemen of the Lakes Lodge and he loved the meetings, food, events, jokes and especially the fellowship. He served at all the fishboils and could be found helping out in the kitchen making coffee and cleaning up after each lodge meeting. Armand was a very talented wood carver and made hundreds of beautiful carvings, many of which were also painted by him. He was part of a woodcarving group that met in Williams Bay to teach others the skill and to fellowship together while carving.
Armand was proud of his Norwegian heritage and seemed to incorporate that pride into his wood carving as well as his everyday life.
Armand is survived by his wife, Anne (Bradley), whom he married June 19, 1953, in Chicago; his children, Herald A. Brastad and Kirsten Marie Audisho; nephew, Andy Brastad; and niece, Susan Rosenbaum.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sons, Henrik and Kenneth; son-in-law, Steve Audisho; and brother, Robert (Viola) Brastad.
Visitation was Sunday at Toynton’s Walworth Funeral Home, 328 Kenosha St., Walworth.
Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Ridgewood Memorial Park, 9900 N Milwaukee Ave., Des Plaines, Ill.
