Mary Ellen Kettwig, 92, of Whitewater, formerly of Elkhorn and Janesville, died May 31, 2016, at the Our House in Whitewater.
Mary was born in Hebron, July 7, 1923, the daughter of Fern and Hattie (Floerke) Findlay.
On April 24, 1943, Mary married Jesse Dean Matthews in San Diego. In 1979, Mary married Paul Kettwig. Paul preceded her in death in 2010.
Mary owned and operated the Pink Poodle Gift Shop in Elkhorn for more than 24 years. Mary was one of the first women members of the Elkhorn Chamber of Commerce.
Mary was a member of the Cargill Methodist Church in Janesville. She enjoyed collecting antiques, quilting, crafts, traveling and was an avid photographer. Most of all she enjoyed being with family and friends.
She is survived by her son, Larry (Megan) Matthews, Whitewater; her daughter, Sandra Garcia, Orland, Calif.; grandchildren, Brandon (Samantha) Tschacher, Benjamin and Andra Matthews, Raquel (Michael) Van Staden and Jennifer (Armando Esquivel) Garcia; brother, Wayne (Marie) Findlay, Hebron; and sister, Carol Sake, Fort Atkinson.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Dean Findlay, and a sister, Joyce Boos.
Funeral services will be June 7, at 11 a.m., at the Cargill Methodist Church, 2000 Wesley Ave., Janesville, with the Rev. Krista Deede officiating. Interment will be in the Hillside Cemetery, Whitewater.
Visitation will be June 7 at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of the services.
