Gary A. Weckesser, 75, of Delavan, died April 2, 2016, at Summerlin Hospital Medical Center in Las Vegas.
He was born in Chicago to Vincent and Agnes Sue (Cook) Weckesser. He grew up in Shorewood. He and his wife, Jill, and their four children lived in California for 14 years before returning to Wisconsin to make Delavan their home in 1978.
Gary, also known as “Wacky,” named his corporation Waqui Enterprises Inc. For 36 years he was owner-operator of several semi tractor-trailers, but his greatest love besides his family was his Mach IV Mustang, a four-engine exhibitions funny car, which he raced in the 1970s and displayed in car shows and exhibits in the country through the years.
He is survived by his wife, Jill; his children, Evelyn (Scott) Walker, Kathleen (Rick) Biel, Randall (special friend Cindy Thomas) Weckesser and Robin (Laine Kruizenga) Weckesser; four grandchildren, Sean (Colleen) Walker, Heather (fiancé Vince Zielinski), Cody Kruizenga-Weckesser and Vincent Biel; six great-grandchildren, Elena, Benjamin and Seth Walker and Milly, Zoe and Oona Zielinski; his brother, Guy (Eleanor); and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his younger brother, Mark, on Dec. 27, 2015.
A visitation service will take place from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. at United Church of Christ Congregational, 123 E. Washington St., Delavan, with the Rev. Laura McLeod officiating.
