Ronald G. Barnes, 86, and Amy E. Barnes, 82, of Presque Isle, formerly of Delavan, died Feb. 19, 2016, in the Town of Arbor Vitae in a car accident.
Ronald Barnes was born April 11, 1929, in Delavan, to the late Chester and Candace (Grover) Barnes. Amy Barnes was born April 24, 1933, in Alabama to the late Clarence C. and Lucille (Brown) Cummings.
Ron and Amy Barnes were married in Elkhorn, on April 25, 1953. Ron Barnes was a sergeant serving in the U.S. Marines from August 1948 until August 1952. He was awarded a Bronze Star for his “great skill and courage in the performance of his duties as a machine gun crewman” during his tour of duty in Korea. He worked for many years with Lyle’s TV and Appliance in Elkhorn before retiring in 1986.
Amy Barnes worked for more than 30 years at Sta-Rite Industries in Delavan, retiring in 1990. They enjoyed the outdoors, feeding the birds and watching the wildlife at their home in the north woods. They were active members of the Living Hope Church of Winchester. Ron belonged to the VFW Post No. 2599 of Presque Isle.
They are survived by two daughters, Linda (Paul) Blum of Janesville, and Joan (Dave) Moran, of Delavan; six grandchildren, Matthew (Emily) Blum, of Janesville, Monique (Bob) North, of Elkhorn, and Angelique Foerster and Reanna Sandhu, both of Delavan; eight great-grandchildren; Ron’s sister, Ruth Hibbard, of Eagle, River; Amy’s brother, Bernard (Debbie) Hollingsworth of Little Rock, Ark.; and other relatives and friends.
They were preceded in death by their granddaughter,
Jessica Blum; Ron’s twin brother, Don (Joan) Barnes; and his sister, Carolee (Rick) Recob.
A memorial service with military honors will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Haase-Lockwood and Associates Funeral Home and Crematory, 730 N. Wisconsin St., Elkhorn.
