Carleen G. Keller, 81, a lifelong resident of Genoa City, died Feb. 6, 2016, at her home.
The former Carleen Gladys Bauman was born in Genoa City on Jan. 15, 1935, to the late Carl Frederick and Ruth Mary Doyle Bauman. On Sept. 1, 1976, she married Robert J. “Sam” Keller in Elkhorn.
Carleen formerly worked at Georgianna’s Restaurant in Genoa City where she obtained the nickname, “George.” She also worked at Paiser Pickle Factory in Genoa City, Trostels in Lake Geneva, Highland Home in Genoa City and her last job was as a receptionist at Richmond Bank in Richmond, Ill.
Carleen belonged to the Our Place Group at the Genoa City Village Hall, ate breakfast at the Depot in Richmond, took pictures, went to the casino and played scratch-off lottery tickets. She especially enjoyed playing BINGO where I-22 was a special number to her, and she rang a bell when it was called. Carleen spoiled her grandchildren and never forgot to send anyone a birthday card.
She is survived by her husband, Robert “Sam”; one daughter, Kathy (Mike) Laubinger, of Genoa City; three grandchildren, Thomas (Meredith) Laubinger, Teresa Laubinger and Eric Laubinger; seven great grandchildren, Ashley, Caitlyn, Destiny, Eli, Mackenzie, Sophia and Arienette; one great-great-grandchild, Emma Rose; one sister, Valri Ruenz, of Lake Geneva; four brothers, Ed (Nancy) Bauman, of Genoa City, Gerald (Diane) Bauman, of Lake Geneva, Ronald (Mickey) Bauman, of Powers Lake, and Ralph “Homer” (Liz) Bauman, of Genoa City; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two granddaughters, Leia Bondowski and Carleen Laubinger; two brothers, Carl F. Jr. and Frank Bauman; and two sisters, June Krueger and Lorraine Osweiler.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Haase-Lockwood and Associates Funeral Home and Crematory in Genoa City. Inurnment will follow in Hillside Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. Thursday until the time of services.
