Wayne Allen Kohler, 83, of rural Clinton, died peacefully at his home Feb. 2, 2016, after a battle with cancer.
He was born July 30, 1932, in Madison to Will Kohler and Edna Edwards. He graduated from East Rockford High School in 1950. He then went to college to learn to be a machinist engineer. He was a Korean Army Veteran and belonged to the Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 1621 and Darien American Legion Post 450. He worked for Sundstrand Corp. and LTL Co. in Rockford, Ill., for many years and had his own shop. He married Mary Petkoff in Elkhorn on Aug. 22, 1991.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; a son, A.J. Justus, of Delavan; two grandsons, Tyler and Ryan; three brothers, William, Kenneth and Robert; and four sisters, Edith, Wilma, Ruth and Fern.
A gathering will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Betzer Funeral Home, 118 S. Second St. Delavan.
The VFW of Janesville will conduct a military service at noon. Family and friends will then adjourn to the Darien American Legion Post for a reception. The family extends a thank you to Beloit Regional Hospice for their tender care of Wayne. Memorials may be made to the Wayne Kohler Memorial Bench in care of Mary Kohler.
