LaVon A. Adney, 93, of Delavan, passed away Jan. 14, 2016, at Ridgestone Village in Delavan.

She was born in Rutland, S.D., March 8, 1922, to Emil and Doreatha (Heyer) Wagner. She married Robert Adney in 1947. He passed away April 14, 2000. She proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a nurse. She worked for many years as a registered nurse at Lakeland Hospital in Elkhorn and in Tucson, Ariz. She belonged to the American Legion Post 95, the Lady Elks, and the United Methodist Women.

She is survived by six children, Barbara (Curt) Aarud, of Watersmeet, Mich., Robert “Bing” (Deborah) Adney, of Janesville, and of Dayton, Wyo., Patricia Adney, of Chicago, Janet Adney, of Tucson, Ariz., Thomas (Peggy) Adney, of Delavan, and Donna Redding, of Blanco, Texas; eight grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

LaVon is preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her parents; a daughter, Mary; a brother, Wilfred; a sister, Marie; and mother-in-law, Lucille Adney.

A celebration of life will take place at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Ridgestone Village, 1025 S. Second St., in Delavan with the Rev. Maribel Celiz officiating. Burial with military honors will take place at Spring Grove Cemetery in Delavan. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to Badger Honor Flight, Women’s Memorial in Washington D.C. or Delavan United Methodist Church.
