Edward Bongiorno Bunzol, 86, of Villa Del Aire on Delavan Lake, died Christmas Day at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center after suffering a sudden heart attack at home.
He was born Feb. 4, 1929, in Chicago to Anthony Bongiorno Bunzol and Lena San Fillipo. He married Phyllis Maniscalco on Nov. 11, 1950, in Chicago. He was a Korean War veteran with the U.S. Army. He was an active member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis, of Delavan Lake; two daughters, Nadine (Mark) Palmer of Gilberts, Ill., and Micheline (Gene) Piekerski of Naperville, Ill.; a son, Edward Jr. (Shirl) Bunzol, of Arlington Heights, Ill.; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Phillip.
Private services were Monday at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Angel Anaya officiating. Burial is private. Betzer Funeral Home is assisting the family. Memorials for masses are appreciated.
