Wayne “Butch” Knopf, 75, died Nov. 23, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Feb. 24, 1940, in Chicago, to the late Wilbert and Katherine (Rainer) Knopf.
After moving to East Troy in his early 20s, he married his late bride Arlene (Goodmanson) on Oct. 3, 1965, at St Patrick’s Church, Elkhorn.
He spent his summers on the lake enjoying the company of family and friends. As a resident of Lake Beulah, he co-founded the water ski club, was an active member of the Lake Beulah Yacht Club, and served as commodore in 1985.
He was also a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, East Troy.
He had a fondness for model trains, RC boats, golfing, fishing, gardening, and cooking. But, above all, his family came first.
Survivors include his sister, Gayle “Mitzy” (Doug) Dorn, East Troy; children, Wade (Mona), Cedarburg, William (Karen), Waukesha, John, Ellsworth, Keith, Los Angeles, and Kimberly (David) Pluess, East Troy; 11 grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends.
Mass of Christian Burial was Nov. 28, at St. Peter’s, East Troy.
In lieu of flowers, donations will go to St. Peter’s Catholic School or the Lake Beulah Sailing School.
