Cheryl L. Friestad, 72, of Williams Bay, passed away Oct. 19, 2015, at Aurora Lakeland Hospice, Elkhorn.
Cheryl L. Friestad was born Oct. 8, 1943, in Chicago, to Howard and Constance (nee Moeller) Siebert.
Cheryl had many qualities that made her a very special person and will be missed by all who knew her. One of her greatest gifts was her gift of love, baking and cooking her special treats and sharing them with her friends and family. She did her internship at Anderson’s bakery in Williams Bay in 1958 and never lost her love for baking. She was adamant about keeping her recipes secret and took them with her when she left us.
Her loyalty and love to her family and friends was ever apparent. She supported everyone in their journeys, whether her grandkids activities to Harold at the “Birkie” to family get-togethers, she was always there to make things special for everyone. She was a caregiver to her parents and numerous family and friends, even when her own health issues where ongoing. She also loved supporting her husband of 52 years throughout their marriage, and, of course, all her beloved pets.
When her children left for college she began working for Lake Geneva Cruise Line. The highlight of her years of service was being a Belle Girl, and she always cherished the many friends she made aboard the Belle of the Lake. She loved spending her time reading and doing puzzles, and always had a book with her or a puzzle on the dining room table. She loved the warm ocean beach, walking the beaches looking for shells with her children, watching the sunrise on Hutchinson Island and going on many cruises with family and friends or just bobbing in her backyard pool dreaming of these special times. Cheryl was truly a very special person and will be missed by all her knew her.
Cheryl is survived by her husband, Harold Friestad, whom she married Dec. 14, 1963; her children, John (Julie) Friestad, Michelle Cleveland and Brian (Violeta) Friestad; grandchildren Connor Cleveland and Florentina Friestad; a sister, Sandra Mae (Terry) Smith; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and dear friends Toby, Steve and Bob.
A memorial visitation will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Toynton’s Walworth Funeral Home, 328 Kenosha St. The family will receive friends again from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Friday at William’s Bay Lutheran Church, 11 Collie St., Williams Bay.
