Geraldine “Gerry” Elnora Perry, 92, a long time resident of East Troy and a member of St. Peter the Apostle Church died May 28, 2015, at East Troy Manor. She was born Sept. 14, 1923.
She spent six years in the U.S. Navy and was a first class seamen when she left. She pursued a singing career, which took her to Las Vegas where she was the opening singer for many big name singers. During her singing career she recorded a 45 vinyl single as well as two CDs.
She sang at what was once the Leeshore on Lake Beulah for many years and developed quite the following. In more recent years she sang at what used to be Ray’s during the Christmas holidays to entertain shoppers.
She loved her flowers and watching and feeding the birds was her passion as she was not able to get around anymore.
She made many friends at East Troy Manor, where she received wonderful care, especially by Mary the social worker and all her staff. She will be missed by all her friends.
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is providing a U.S. Flag to be donated to East Troy Manor to hang in memory of Gerry. She had many flags displayed at her house in East Troy and was a very proud American.
She wished her body to be donated to the Medical College of Wisconsin.
Intentions will be said at the 5 p.m. regular Mass on Saturday, June 20, at St. Peter’s Church, 1981 Beulah Ave., East Troy.
