Sterling John Zweifel, 86, of Delavan, passed away on April 22, 2015, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born in Crawford County on January 7, 1929. Sterling proudly served in the U.S. Army. He was united in marriage to Faye Reader on July 7, 1956. Sterling was a mechanic his whole life and belonged to the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bird watching and gardening.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Faye; five children, Cindy (John) VanBrocklin, of Mt. Carroll, Ill., Scott (Lorie) Zweifel, of Janesville, Rhonda Zweifel, of Delavan, Sterling Jay (Kim) Zweifel, of Sharon, and Todd (Monica) Zweifel, of Delavan; 19 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and siblings, Roger (Nancy) Benkovic, of Georgetown, TX, Carole (Paul) Brahm, of Eagle River, and John (Rosemary) Zweifel, of Sterling, Ill.
A celebration of Sterling’s life will be from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 10, 2015, at the Delavan American Legion. Monroe Funeral Home is assisting the family.
