James L. Harrington, 78, of Delavan, died April 6, 2015 at Mercy Hospital in Janesville.
He was born in Berlin on Jan. 31, 1937, to Lee and Arlene (Stout) Harrington. He married Kathryn Kelsey on Aug. 3, 1963, at the Delavan Methodist Church. Upon graduating from Hamline University in St. Paul, Minn., he was appointed to his first charge as a minister in the Mineral Point area. He was a United Methodist minister from 1962 until 2013 serving in Janesville, South Milwaukee, Shullsburg, Gillett, Hickory and Suring. He was a retired ordained elder of the Wisconsin Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Kathryn, of Delavan; three sons, Jonathan James (Rebecca) Harrington, of Verona, David Lee Harrington, of Roberts, and Richard Paul Harrington, of Clinton; and four grandchildren, Kelly, Abby, Jacob and Alexander. He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Oneta; and an infant son, Patrick.
A celebration of life will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Delavan United Methodist Church, 213 S. Second Street with the Rev. Stan Curtis officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the church.
