MARILYN C. WELCH

Marilyn WelchMarilyn Cheryl (Carlson) Welch passed away quietly on March 10, 2015.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester A. and Elaine L. Carlson and by her beloved husband, Robert G. Welch. Marilyn was born in Rock Island, Ill., and moved to Delavan with her parents and sister, Charlotte, when she was 12 years old. She attended Delavan High School where she met her husband and graduated in 1945. She attended art school while her husband served in World War II. Upon his return, she became a homemaker and mother. Later she helped her husband and was involved in the Delavan Lake Boat Co. and Flemings Tavern. They moved to McAllen, Texas, in 1981, retired and spent time enjoying each other’s company and friends. Marilyn’s hobbies included painting, enjoying her grandchildren, visiting with friends and going to South Padre Island.

She is survived by two sons, Robert T. (Karen) Welch, of Mason, Texas, and Bruce G. (Trudy R.) Welch, of McAllen, Texas; grandchildren, Jenny (Chris) Welch, of Denton, Ben T. Welch, of Austin, Texas, Grace H. Welch, of McAllen, Texas, Robert B. Welch, of McAllen, Texas, and Meaghan N. Welch, of McAllen, Texas; one sister, Charlotte Grether, of Elkhorn; a sister-in-law, Betty Welch, of Littleton, Colo., and several nephews and nieces from Delavan, Colorado and Texas.

Inurnment services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Roselawn Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Nelson officiating. Kreidler Funeral Home in McAllen, Texas, is assisting the family.
