Kathryn I. Walstra, 77, of Sharon, died March 13, 2015, at her home in Sharon.
She was born July 26, 1937, in Clinton, to John and LaVina (Lowry) Smith. For years, she was employed at an assistant teacher for all grades, but especially in the area of special education. She was also a reporter for the Sharon Reporter newspaper; was involved in the Head Start program; and was the executive secretary for Kotter True Value Hardware in Harvard, Ill.
She is survived by her children, William Jr., and wife, Patty Moffatt, of Janesville, Kim and husband, Steve Jacobs, of Sharon, Debra Moffatt, of Elkhorn, John and Machelle Moffatt, of Twin Lakes, Hazel, and husband, Allan Krause, of Janesville, and Arnold, and wife, Sarah Smith, of Corpus Christi, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and her uncle, Ray, and wife, Marilyn Lowry, of Sharon. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth “Beezer” Walstra, and her brother, Ernest.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Christ Lutheran Church in Sharon. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Toynton Funeral Home in Sharon. Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Sharon.
