Marie E. Peters, 95, of Sharon, died Jan. 6, 2015, at the Lakeland Health Care Center in Elkhorn.
Marie was born July 24, 1919, in LeRoy Township, Boone County, Ill. She was the daughter of Max and Louise (Reiher) Voss. She was united in marriage to Erwin H. Peters on Oct. 5, 1941, at Zion Lutheran Church in Sharon. She lived in the Sharon area her entire life except for 14 years at Puckaway Lake in Markesan after Erwin retired.
Marie was a graduate of Sharon High School in the Class of 1936. She worked at the Sharon Grade School lunch program and on the election board for several years. Marie loved to sew and crochet and do housework and crossword puzzles.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran and Triune Lutheran churches her entire life.
She is survived by her son, Wayne (Cleo) Peters, of Elkhorn; her daughter, Marjorie (Marvin) Christenson, of Appleton; grandchildren Ann (nee Peters) Foley, Susan (nee Peters) Ingersoll, Chris Christenson, and Joy (nee Christenson) Beltran; great-grandchildren Joseph, Benjamin and Jonathan Ingersoll, Angelica and Alicia Beltran, and William Foley Jr. Marie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Erwin, on Jan. 5, 1998; a great-grandson, Jacob Ingersoll; a brother, Marcus Voss; and a sister, Grace Erkfitz.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Triune Lutheran Church in rural Sharon. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Interment will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Oakwood Cemetery at Sharon.
