Edward George Etten, age 74, passed away on Sunday Dec. 21, 2014, at Maury
Regional Medical Center in Columbia, Tenn.
Ed was born on April 21, 1940, in Waukegan, Ill., to Edwin J. and Anna M. (Hertel) Etten.
He married Shirley A. Healey on March 12, 1960, and they made their home in East Troy for 44 years. They raised two daughters, Evelyn A. Etten and Vicki L. Etten and in 1998, Evelyn gave them their grandson, Trevor J. Olson.
On Sept. 3, 2005, Ed married Connie Robertson-Fiegel and they moved to Columbia, Tenn. where they resided for nine years. Ed’s family expanded to include five more children and 19 grandchildren.
Ed was a veteran of the U.S. Army and also a member of the American Legion Post 146 in Loretto, Tenn. He was employed for 32 years as a commercial truck driver and a dispatcher with Starline Trucking in New Berlin.
Ed was preceded in death by his son Edward Jr. in 1964, his premature baby in 1966, his father Edwin in 1990, and his mother Anna in 1999.
Ed is survived by his wife Connie; his children, Evelyn and Vicki; his many grandchildren; his siblings Anna Mae Dale, Joseph Etten, Martha Bond, Robert Etten, and Judy Howell.
Ed was cremated and a celebration of life service was held on Dec. 27, in Columbia, Tenn.
His family will be holding an additional celebration of life service on Saturday, Jan. 10, at the Darien Senior Center. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
A celebration of life ceremony will begin shortly after 3 p.m., where the family will invite those attending to say a few words and share their memories of Ed. There will be socializing afterwards until 5 p.m.
The Senior Center, 47 Park St., is located directly below the Darien Public Library (elevator access is available).
