June K. Yakes, 94, of Delavan, died Dec. 31, 2014, at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center in Elkhorn.
The former June Katherine Delap was born in Lake Geneva, on June 21, 1920, to the late Chester and Clara (Gersdorf) Delap.
She was a graduate of Williams Bay High School. On Oct. 7, 1939, in Dubuque, Iowa, she married Raymond C. Yakes. He preceded her in death on March 6, 2010. She worked for several years as a nurse’s aide at Lakeland Nursing Home in Elkhorn.
She is survived by four sons, Norman (Pat) Yakes of Dade City, Fla., Richard (Roxanne) Yakes, of Elkhorn, Thomas (Dixie) Yakes, of Delavan, and Douglas (Amy) Yakes, of Lena; 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Greg Thibadeau; two brothers, Norman and Palmer Delap; and a sister, Emma Lou Ells.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Jan. 10 Saturday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 416 Geneva St., Delavan with the Rev. Robert P. Rickman officiating. Visitation will from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday. Memorial remembrances may be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.
