Harold F. Dusenbury, 88, of Walworth, died Dec. 29, 2014, with his precious wife of 62 years by his side at Golden Years in Walworth.
Harold was born Feb. 18, 1926, in Chicago to parents Walter and Ruth (Haese) Dusenbury. He was raised in Chicago and attended Austin Academy High School, graduating in 1944. Harold attended the University of Illinois-Urbana, studying mechanical engineering in 1946.
In 1947, he continued his education at the Chicago College of Podiatry, from which he graduated in 1951 earning a degree as a doctor of podiatry. Following a brief career as a practicing podiatrist in New Castle, Ind., Harold shifted vocations, going into sales, working for most of his career at the Heco Envelope Co. of Chicago.
Harold proudly served his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II as a gunner on a B-29.
Harold and Merna were united in marriage by her father, the Rev. H.R. Swearingen, on April 20, 1952, at the Chicago Corner Christian Church in New Castle, Ind.
Harold was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Some other favorites include ice cream, sweets and Merna’s cooking.
Harold was a lifelong Cubs fan and he also loved many activities including bowling and golf.
He is survived by Merna, his wife of 62 years; his son, Jay (Faith Shattuck) Dusenbury, of Walworth; daughters Linda (Bruce) Anderson, of Mora, Minn., and Jean (James) Ryan, of Fox Point; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents and sister (Kay Reimer).
Visitation for Harold Dusenbury will be at 10 a.m. Saturday with a funeral service at 11 a.m. at Calvary Community Church in Williams Bay with the Rev. Chuck Cervenka officiating.
Interment will be at the East Delavan Cemetery immediately following the service.
