Helen M. Weeks, 87, of Sharon, passed away Saturday Oct. 11, 2014, at Beloit Memorial Hospital in Beloit.
She was born March 17, 1927, in Hebron, Ill., the daughter of Charles and Adeline (Mason) Cates. She married Harold Weeks Oct. 2, 1946, in Hebron, Ill.
Helen was a member of the Sharon United Methodist Church and Stateline Country Club and an avid bowler. Helen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to many. Her greatest joy was cooking for her boys and anyone else who showed up at the kitchen table. She was famous for her baking and especially for her angel food cake.
She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Harold; four sons Chuck, of Sharon, Dave (Judie), of Walworth, Bill (Betty), of Surprise, Ariz., and Don (Debbie), of Sharon; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; a sister, Charlene Schultz, of Harvard, Ill.; a brother, John (JoAnn) Cates, of Elkhorn; many other loving relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Betty Oberst; a brother, Ralph Cates; and daughter-in-law, Lois Weeks.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sharon United Methodist Church in Sharon. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Sharon Township. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Toynton Sharon Funeral Home.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy the family suggests memorials to Sharon Fire and Rescue.
