Vivian V. Gatrel, 89, of Clinton, passed away Sept. 17, at Beloit Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Beloit, on March 31, 1925, the daughter of the late Viron and Louise Keister. One of five siblings, Vivian spent her entire life in the Rock and Walworth County areas. She married Lawrence A. Diderich, Sr. on Sept. 1, 1944. Mr. Diderich preceded her in death in 1973. She was also married to and divorced from Arnie Gatrel.
Vivian worked as a waitress, a bartender and at Borg Machinery for a number of years. She also was employed as a housemother at Mooseheart. She enjoyed playing Scrabble, various card games, the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears. She was an avid Wheel Watcher.
Vivian is survived by her children, Judith (John) Aronson of Aurora, Colo. and Lawrence A. (Mary) Diderich, Jr. of Sharon, her brother Victor (Joyce) Keister, Beloit, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and her very special friends Janet Hardt and family of Clinton. She was preceded in death by her son Gary Diderich and three siblings.
Visitation will be held in Sharon at Toynton’s Funeral Home at 1 p.m. on Sept. 22. Services will follow immediately after at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers memorials in Vivian’s name may be made to Time Is Now or a charity of your choice.
