Jerry Mistrata, 75, a longtime Lake Geneva area resident, passed away Aug. 11, 2014.
Jerry was born in Chicago, on July 21, 1939 to Jerry and Ann Mistrata (nee Jerele).
He married Donna Sourek on Aug. 20, 1960, in Northlake, Ill.
Jerry was the proud father of Joseph (Donna), Mike and Dina Sakowski (Bob).
He enjoyed the activities of his grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Julia, Danny and Hayley. Through the years, he attended many of their baseball and softball games and concerts.
Jerry leaves behind a sister, Rose Dillon, and brother, Tom. He was a proud uncle to many nieces and nephews.
A former resident of Melrose Park, Ill., Jerry operated a service station at North and Fifth avenues in Melrose Park for more than 30 years until his retirement.
Jerry was an active member of St. Benedict’s Church in Fontana for many years and had a passion to serve. His favorite activity was to participate in the annual fish fry.
Jerry loved feeding the birds in his yard and was passionate about having a great vegetable garden every year.
Services will be held at St Benedict’s Church, 137 Dewey Ave. Fontana at 11 a.m. Friday. Burial service will follow at Roselawn Memory Gardens, N3045 Highway 67, Lake Geneva. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 10 to 10:45 a.m. Friday at Toynton Funeral Home, 328 Kenosha St., Walworth.
